Hello

Jordan Barclay is a queer Postpartum Doula, Newborn and Family Photographer, and Infant and Family Sleep Specialist in Portland, Oregon. Jordan created Bun and Bundle as a way to combine her passions of supporting families and capturing their magical moments along the way.

My Story

I started this journey by studying photography. I have been drawn to photography for most of my life and I have always loved how it can uniquely memorialize the big moments. Because of this passion I received a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Photography from The Art Institute of Atlanta, and I have nearly 15 years of experience photographing weddings and families.

Along the way, I realized another interest of mine is working with families and children. I have worked as a professional nanny for 9 years, which gives me a unique understanding when communicating with kids of many ages. I find this to be so helpful during family photography sessions, as well as when working closely with families. I have learned so much about how sacred it is for a family to let you into their home. It has given me the opportunity to practice connecting with families and to listen to understand and to help bring a unique perspective in all kinds of situations.

I was drawn more into the birth world when I realized that the perinatal time is when a family is the most vulnerable and in need of support. I completed my full spectrum doula training (fertility, birth, and postpartum) through Bebo Mia and I felt uniquely drawn to help families in the postpartum period, so I cross-certified as a Postpartum Doula through ProDoula. I also completed the Perinatal Mood and Trauma-Informed Workshop for Doulas taught by Olivia Scobie.

In my experience working with families, it became clear that a massive struggle for new families is how to get enough sleep with a newborn. I really wanted to be able to provide as much support as possible for this particular experience so I completed the Infant and Family Sleep Specialist certification through Bebo Mia. The families I have supported through sleep struggles have found this information to be so valuable, and I am very excited to continue to bring the tools I have learned into my practice of supporting families.
